Nordics: Day 7 | Bergen pt.2

Good Morning! Unfortunately, we have reached the part of the trip where people keep heading home :/ As such, today was Jake & Etty’s final day in Norway.

We didn’t have many plans, but wanted to wake up and do a hike. The night before we threw out a couple of options from searching AllTrails. It was supposed to be a fairly clear day, so choose an option that was walkable from town, but also gave us views.

We started our day by a quick breakfast at the hotel, which was amazing as it was the day before. After breakfast we began on our journey.

It was a 6ish mile hike in a loop fashion. We started around 10am, when we started it was partly cloudy so we were excited. We headed from town to the beginning of the trailhead, and on the way we stopped at a convenience store to grab some water for our journey. After a little while it started to rain mainly just sprinkling which was more of an annoyance than actually getting soaked.

A mile or two in, we came across a little bridge treeehouse thing in the forest, so we of course took a minor detour to make our way around the structure. We then continued to hike up, and the more up we went, the more in the clouds we were (not ideal for the views).

After a while we realized that we likely would not be able to see anything from the top, but at the same time we were in too deep to turn around. As in we were hiking up wet boulders/rocks and the thought of going down was too spooky, so we continued on our way.

We finally made it to the top after a few miles and as we expected were fully in the clouds so there were no crazy views to see. Carly did later show us what we were supposed to see and it was gorgeous, so we just had to do a little imagination. We then finished up our hike and headed back to the hotel to dry off and change for the day ahead.

After we rinsed off and put on some dry clothes we ventured back into the city. Our first stop was, of course, the reindeer stand that we had been eyeing every day in Bergen. It was good, but the jury is still out on if it was that long of a line was worth it haha. We went to the shopping mall and showed an around for a bit and then we did a bit of brewery hopping (a local pub & a cidery).

It was fun, however, after a couple beers we decided it was time for dinner. We went to a sushi place, and sadly, it was not as good as the second night of the trip.

After dinner, Etty & Jake headed to bed as they had to be up early for their flight the next morning. Meanwhile, Aaron, Carly, Mac, and I went to one more local pub. It was in one of the iconic waterfront colorful buildings and had a live band, it was nice inside and we just hung out for a while before deciding to head back to the hotel.

The next day, was Aaron & Carly’s date day that Mac & I were crashing.

More to come! Goodnight!
