India: Day 0

Good morning! & welcome back!

I’m again back on my blogging grind, and am trying to be the better about consistency blogging this trip every night so I don’t get too far beyond.

Here we go! A classic day 0 blog post which consists of only speaking to our day on planes, trains and automobiles. We (MacKenzie & I) started our days by waking up and heading to work. We both worked a half day and then planned to meet at Union Station to take the train to the airport, however, per usual I was running late and we ended up having to uber to the airport. It actually worked out fairly well.

We got to the airport and headed to the check-in tables. Since we need visas for India, we had to check in at the airport, which was super smooth and easy.  Although, they checked everything intensely. After checking in, we headed to security. TSA took way longer than it should have, but we weren’t in a real rush.

Got through security and decided to try and head to the CapitalOne lounge quickly to grab a quick bite before getting on the first of two flights today. We arrived at the lounge and it was sadly closed due to some water preservation effort (?), so we could only grab from the grab&go section.

We grabbed a couple buffalo chicken wraps (surprisingly good), Cesar salads, and I grabbed a few chia seed puddings. We headed to the gate and it was almost time to board, but they were running behind so we whipped out our goodies and ate them all before boarding. Haha.

We finally boarded and were off to NY for our layover. The plane was on time which was shocking and Mac and I just watched the Pitt the entire way there. Once we landed, we had a little over 3 hours since our second flight was already a bit delayed.

Mac ate his fire sandwich he made for us, but I got nervous about the fact it was in a backpack for seven hours, so opted for some pretzels and a smoothie. We then continued to our gate, watched some shows, charged our phones and then boarded the aircraft.

We boarded, got all adjusted and off we went. I slept probably 90% of the flight and watch The Pitt with Mac the other 10%. Mac probably slept 40% of the flight and watched movies or shows the other times. All and all it was a fairly easy flight.

When we finally landed (~13 hours & 45 minutes later) we went through through customs, border control and hopped in an uber to our hotel. We checked in around 2am, and immediately went up, showered and headed to bed. What a long travel day!!

Goodnight!
