Day 5:  Elephants & Exploring

Today was a day that I had been looking forward to since Sophomore year of college when I first got accepted to go to Thailand, and it wasn’t until today, 3 years later, that it was finally coming. Today was the day to go see the Elephants.

We woke up, got ready, and headed to breakfast. We decided to have a longer breakfast and be able to enjoy it all as our adventure to the Elephant Sanctuary wasn’t until around 2pm, and we were planning to spend the morning at the pool. I got a nice latte at breakfast as well as some fresh food and I believe some cereal (lol). We sat and chatted for a while before heading back to the room to change for the pool.

We grabbed our books and headed out to the pool to hangout. We got a nice couple hours of sunlight in before heading out on our adventure around 2pm. The company picked us up from the hotel and drove us out to the sanctuary.

When we arrived the gave us a brief overview of how the elephants there had ended up there as well as a background as elephants as a species. It was very informative and interesting to hear. After they had explained how to properly treat the elephants and the basis of what the sanctuary does they allowed us to meet the elephants. This was obviously my favorite part of day. We got to meet the massive, but yet so sweet of creatures.

I had a blast and could not have been happier than in that moment. We spent a couple hours in at the sanctuary before they took us back to the hotel. Once we arrived back at the hotel we instantly were starving so checked out a place to go to dinner. We found a Korean BBQ place that looked amazing.

We took a Grab to dinner and all decided to split an all you could eat meal plan. It was delicious, but I am not sure that any of the workers were a huge fan of us. They kept coming over trying to show us how to do it properly and man did we try to do it right, but apparently we were missing something because they kept on coming over lol. After dinner, we decided to walk around the street/area we were as we had not been over there yet this trip.

While we were walking around Jake & Etty kept finding this fun little sculptures, so we took their photo by ~most~ of them. We also decided to head and grab a quick drink. We around the bar, chatted, and hung out for a while. We finished our drinks and went on our merry way down the street to see if there were any additional places to check out.

We didn’t see any that were intriguing enough for us to check out, so we grabbed a Grab and went back to the hotel. Once we got back we headed up to the room to head to bed for a Girls Day the next day.

Goodnight!
