Costa Rica: Girls Trip (Day 1)

Itinerary: The plan of trip was a very loose plan per usual.

Zoe & Grace had plans to go to Costa Rica and I pretty much just decided to crash, which made my life quite a bit easier as they already had a basic map of where they wanted to spend time. We (they) decided that we should try and hit all the ‘key’ areas, which I was of course, so down for. We decided we wanted to book the trip over Memorial Day weekend to save ourselves some PTO, which is huge for the program.

The plan consisted of us spending a little time in San Jose, Monteverde, Santa Teresa, and Montezuma. This meant we were going to rent a car and see where our days take us. While looking into all things Costa Rica, we had a couple working sessions of planning and booking hotels and then all of a sudden it was time to leave for the trip.

Day 0: Work, Trains, Planes, and Automobiles

Today started the same as any other day. I woke up, headed to work, worked and then since it was Memorial Day weekend we got a half day which was great because our flight took off at 4pm to head to San Jose.

Zoe & Grace decided to Uber to the Airport together and I took the train from Denver Union Station as it is close to the office. I arrived to the airport, went and picked up a book for our beach days before meeting up with Zoe & Grace to grab a quick airport snack and beer.

Once we finished our beers & Grace and I finished our split sandwich we headed to the gate. We arrived to the gate at the perfect time, right as they were starting to board. We grabbed out our passports and off we went to the plane. I was in prisoner row, and Zoe was the seat directly in front of me, so I just got to kick her seat the whole time which was fun 😉

The plane ride itself was just over 5 hours. I slept for the first 2ish hours before putting on a movie for the rest of the flight. I had some coca-cola gummy bears along with a coke for my little plane snack. The flight itself had quite a bit of turbulence, but overall went by fairly quick.

After we landed, we all met back up, went through customs and were on our way to get the rental car. We snagged our rental car and continued on our way back to the hotel. We were a bit concerned about the area, but once we arrived were at peace with our hotel decision.

We quickly dropped off our luggage and headed to the casino across the street. We went to directly to the bar, grabbed a drink, practiced our Spanish and chatted amongst ourselves. We hung out for around an hour or so before heading in for the night before our long journey tomorrow.

Buenas Noches from Costa Rica!
