Today was the day that we were changing up scenery a little bit and heading to a new part of Spain – Galicia. This is the area above portugal in the upper North west of Spain. I had never heard of this area until talking with Martina’s family and they said it was one of their favorites and a great vacation spot. Ever since then we were excited for the next part of our journey.
Today we woke the same as the past few days and headed to Martina’s house with bags in hand prepared for the upcoming 5.5 hour car ride. The ride was very pretty, but it was a very long drive so I as well as others managed to get a bit more zzz’s on the way.
Once we arrived at our castle, literally gate and all we explored the place. We got an Airbnb that could fit our entire group of 12 in one place. The best we could do was a literal old castle in Galicia. It was stunnning and very fun to stay in for the nights we were there.

As soon as we walked in, we checked out the entire place. Went into every room and did a full scope of the perimiter. It had very unique charicteristics, but such a fun time looking through it. Every pair got a room to themselves which was nice and we even had a couple rooms to spare. Once we were finished taking in the house we headed out for a brief hike.
The hike was 15ish minutes away from the place we were staying and towards the direction of dinner which was nice. The hike was short one, but it was nice to be able to get outside and move the legs from sitting in the car all morning. It was a ~2 mile hike to a beautiful waterfall. The hike to the waterfall was very easy as it was all down hill, but that meant that the way back was going to be all up hill. The way back was a bit brutal, much some much needed exercise.

Once we accomplished the mountain of a hill back we headed to dinner which was reccomended by Martina’s family friends. We tried some of the local cusine which was a lot of seafood and was absolutely delicious. We had lots of squid, calamari, and potatoes. It was a great meal, and we stayed for hours due to the “potion” happening at midnight. We weren’t sure what to expect from this but we knew we had to stay. It was for sure an experience and I am so glad we stayed. It was a whole performance and a great one!

Once we have the “potion” which seemed to just be a shot of everclear we headed on our way back to the Airbnb. We were all exhausted from the day, so when we got back we all pretty much went straight to bed. It was a very fun day!
Goodnight!
