Day 9/10: Back Home we Go

Today was a sad day because it was time to head home. It was also a super duper long travel day. The start was a flight from Puerto Natales to Santiago (3 hours), then a 6 hour layover, next flight Santiago to JFK, then a 6.5 hour layover, and finally a flight from JFK to DEN.

The first flight was easy as we were leaving from a 1 gate airport. The flight consisted of me sleeping & blogging. Once we landed we had to grab our bags (they gate checked mine #tears). We then went through customs which was kind of a long line maybe 30ish minutes. Next stop was to find food, we found a little cafeteria and made it home base. I had a delicious sandwich for dinner/lunch. We plugged all our electronics in and hung out for the majority of the time. I blogged while Katherine helped Ashley study for the GMAT.

The layover was not as bad as we all were expecting which was great! After the 6 hours were up we went to board our flight. This was the weirdest flight boarding because we had to dump out all liquids before boarding – this included all items that were over 3oz… Katherine had just bought a jam to bring home and they made her throw it out (very sad day). It was wild.

Once we made it through that, we were able to board the plane. We boarded the flight for our 11 hour journey back to the states.

The start of the flight was brutal as I was unable to sleep. I watched a couple episodes of The Gentleman before attempting to sleep again. I was thankful for the second attempt as I was able to sleep for nearly the rest of the flight (6ish hours).

We finally landed in JFK, went through customs and headed towards our gates. This is were our trip as a trio concludes. Ashley & Katherine were heading back to MSP while I continued my journey to DEN.

They were lucky and only had a 3 hour layover, while I was not as lucky since I had a little over 6 hours. But we all got lucky as our gates were right next to each other. We had our last chats about the trip before parting ways and boarded to our final destinations.

This was an incredible trip and I am so happy to have traveled with such great girlies! Shout out Ashley & Katherine for making this such an amazing trip! And a huge shout to TravelWorldCulture (Gavin & Jess) for making our dream trip come true!

Finally, as someone close to me once said “live without walls, adventure to the fullest, and lastly, you will never know unless you do it,” these are the words I will try and live by forever and always. Patagonia, thank you for an adventure of a lifetime!!!
