Day 2: Exploring the City of Bangkok

Good morning from Bangkok!

We woke up at around 9am and headed out to explore the beautiful city of Bangkok. We decided since we were only here for a short amount of time we were going to explore the city on foot. We quickly realized that Bangkok was not a walking city, but decided to continue on anyways as we wanted to see it all.

Not only was it not a walking city, but it was around 105 degrees this day. This meant we were stopping in practically every 711 to grab a water/a drink of choice to keep ourselves hydrated (you will soon come to realize 711 was the sole sponsor of this trip). There were even a couple times that I found myself thinking that I was going to pass out from the heat.

Our end goal of this first walk was to visit the Chatuchak weekend market. However, along the way we say a bunch of beautiful temples & roadside attractions, which made the walk totally worth it.

The walked around the weekend market for 30ish minutes before needing to find some air conditioning. Thankfully, there was an indoor section which allowed for just that. We got into the air conditioning and decided to find some food for lunch, we found a food court in the market and sat down for lunch. This lunch consisted of a lot of rice, friend rice as well as sticky rice was on the table for lunch.

Once we were fueled with food and no longer 100 degrees, we decided to head back out and look around the market a bit longer before grabbing a taxi and heading back towards the hotel.

Once we were back at the Hotel we decided to cool off and head out to the pool. We brought our books & hung out in the chill pool for a while that afternoon. Once it was time for dinner we headed in changed, and went back out to the city.

This night we looked up some food spots with great reviews and ventured out. Our dinner place seemed to be in a hip part of town with night markets and gorgeous restaurants. We ended up at the Botanic Backyard for dinner with was delicious. We, well I should say Etty, decided to be a bit adventurous at dinner and order squid. It honestly was not terrible and everyone, including Jake, had a bite. It was a great dinner of wonderful food, company and convos.

After dinner, we explored the night life a little and than headed back to the hotel to get some zzzz’s for the next day.

Goodnight!
