Day 8: Visiting the Town of Zermatt

Carly and I decided that we were going to take the day to walk around the town of Zermatt. We woke up, got dressed, put our bags in storage, and then headed into the town for the day.

Our first stop, of course, was to find a coffee shop and some pastries. We found a cute little shop, with an excellent little overlook of the city. We sipped on our lattes and chatted about the trip and life.

After coffee, we headed into the city and walked through the cute shops. We eventually found our way to the end of town to see the Matterhorn from the base. Once we were able to find the amazing views below, we headed to the grocery store to find some things for lunch. We got the usually crackers, cheese, and of course a chocolate bar for dessert.

After lunch, we decided that we would head back to Zurich early to eat dinner there at our favorite restaurant – Santa Lucia. This is where the amazing Butter Ravioli was first found. So, we actually decided to head on the long journey back to Zurich. We started on the beautiful train to our first connection. We got a seat and chilled out for the hour journey. On our next train, which was 2 hours, we did not get so lucky. We ended up having to stand, holding our ski bags until we finally got a seat for the last 20 minutes of the train.

Once we made it to Zurich, we headed straight to the hotel to drop off our bags before heading into the city one last time. Once we got to the city, we went and looked around a couple little shops on our way to the restaurant. There was a long line at the restaurant, but thankfully since we were only two we got in fairly quickly.

We sat down and ordered a glass of wine as well as two orders of our favorite pasta – the butter ravioli. It was as delicious as ever! We chatted and once we finished eating, we headed back towards the train to get to our hotel. On the way to the train, we ran into a very German pub that had live music, so we poked our heads in for a bit before continuing on our way.

We got on the train and made it back to our hotel and packed up our bags for our journey home
