Day 7: Zermatt Ski Day
Today was our day to ski in Zermatt, Switzerland. We woke up, made breakfast, got dressed, and had ourselves a usual morning. We then headed out on our journey to get to the hill, oh wait – I meant the mountain (I guess that’s the MN in me lol).
The journey started off great, we had a little over a half-mile walk to the base of the gondola. It was totally fine and we made it with no complications. We then went to the ticket booth and traded our IKON passes for our Zermatt mountain passes. Again, no issues here. Once we had our passes and were at the base, we headed to get in line at the gondola – we had arrived 15 minutes early to the base, so we could get in a full day of skiing. This is where our journey began. The gondola was having some technical difficulties, as it would get stuck every time it came around the bend. This meant that the line moved very slowly, but the mechanical engineers of Switzerland were quick for a resolution. It was a funny time and after 45ish minutes we made it on and were on our way up. The views were absolutely immaculate and got us hyped for the day to come.

Once we got to the top, we decided to continue our journey a little further up to see a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. We took a second gondola, which was massive (I think it could fit 20 people sitting down). Once we got off we were in shock at how amazing the view was, we took a while to take it all in & take some pictures, before heading back down to hit the slopes.

The views here were unlike anything we had skied before, we started in the bright blue skies and would take the chairlift, up and over the clouds. It was truly a great day of skiing.

After skiing for a while, we decided to eat lunch and of course, have a Toblerone while starring at the Matterhorn because that only makes sense. Lunch was our usual, Peanut butter & Nutella sandwiches with a couple additional snacks.

After lunch, we decided to take a journey by skiing from Switzerland to Italy. This was a beautiful long run. It was also a fun experience skiing between two countries. We ran into a slight issue when we reached the bottom and realized we didn’t have the required pass to make it back up the Gondola. Carly and I ended up running inside, playing the dumb tourist but still had to pay $20 to get a one-lift pass to take us all the way back to the top, so we could ski back to Switzerland where our passes would work again. Overall, it was a fun and very memorable experience.
We went skiing a bit more and found some unreal runs with Powder. After some fun long runs, we headed to get Apres coffee on the hill. We had an amazing view, met some fun people and sipped on our coffee.

After Apres Ski coffee, we headed to the real Apres Ski at Hennu Stall. This place was one of the coolest places I have been. It was truly a party on the side of the mountain.

We then skied down the last couple thousand feet of the mountain. Changed and went to Fondue at The Chalet. Had an amazing dinner, before heading back and going to bed.
