Day 6: Coffee, Ski, & Travel.

As these blogs have always started. This day started no differently, we woke up, got dressed, made breakfast and lunch, and went on our merry way to the hill.

We choose to take an earlier bus this morning in hopes of not getting stuck on the traffic jam bus like two days ago. It worked and we got to the hill with a little over 30 minutes before the first lift, so we decided to get some coffee at the local base coffee shop. The coffee was delicious and exactly what we needed to continue our long day.

After coffee, it was time to hit the slopes of Le Tour. We only had a half day because we had to travel plans to train to Zermatt. The views per usual were incredible, and we were able to find a couple patches of real nice snow. The resort had gotten 2 inches of fresh snow the night before, so we got lucky with some off-piste runs.

After our half-day, we skied down to the base and jumped on the bus to take us back to Chamonix Mont Blanc. We quickly changed and grabbed our bags before running into town to grab lunch before our couple-hour journey to the next ski town.

Off we went to Zermatt with a whole nother set of trains. After trains, trains, and more trains we finally arrived in the amazing ski town of Zermatt.

Once we arrived, I also got the best call of the trip… they had finally located my bag and were going to deliver it to our AirBnB. In told them where we were staying, and they informed me the bag would arrive within 45 minutes – WHOO HOO!

However, the journey to our Airbnb was not quite as nice. We ended up hiking probably around 500 ft of elevation gain to our place, to later find out there was an elevator that would take us up (that was a hoot and a half). Anyway, we made it with slight complications to our Airbnb. Once we got inside we had even more issues, as we were unable to figure out how to unfold the pull-out couch. After, probably (no joke) 25 minutes, we finally figured it out and were gratefully all settled. The Airbnb also had an unreal view of Zermatt just outside the place, we took in the views for a while.

Once we settled Carly and I headed out to find my bag that was supposively going to be delayed at the base of the Airbnb. After, waiting 5-10 minutes, it was a miracle – my bag had arrived.

We brought my bag up to the Airbnb and then headed out for the evening. We walked around town and found a cute “Little Bar” that we stopped into for some drinks. The bartender was awesome and the beers were delicious. He even told us about a great gyro place down the street that we stopped at for dinner, before making our way back towards the Airbnb. On our way we found a fun little wine bar, that we stopped in for a couple glasses. The wines were good and with our little night cap – we headed back up for a good night sleep for our next ski day adventure.

Goodnight to me and my bag being in the same room again 🙂
