Ski Trip? Ski Day 1

Let the ski trip begin! Day number 1 of skiing in the Alps.

We woke up fairly early around 7:00am to prepare for the day. We got dressed, ate breakfast, and made our pocket sammies for the day. My sandwich consisted of peanut butter and a whole lotta Nutella. Once we were ready, we grabbed our skis and headed out to Le Brevent, the resort we choose for the day.

The day was beautiful and the weather was even better. Not necessarily, the best skiing weather as it was 60 and sunny, but man was it pretty. We walked around a 1/2 mile to the hill and hiked up what felt like a 500-foot incline to arrive at the base of the mountain. We took the gondola up and watch the amazing views along the way. Once we arrived at the top we were stunned and decided to take a few pictures before we started our day of skiing.

We started our morning by getting used to skiing on the unique snow that was ahead of us for the day. I also took a couple of runs to get used to the new skis which were a little longer in length than I was used to. Once we were confident and did a couple mini-runs, we decided to jump ship and take the gondola over to the connected resort Le Flégère.

This resort was for a bit more experience skiers, which was fun. They were a bit steeper run and had a couple off-piste runs that were a blast and a half to go down.

After skiing for a couple of hours, we took a quick lunch break and shockingly, grabbed a beer to enjoy while taking in the view of the hills.

After lunch, we skied for a while longer we found some more off-piste runs with a little bit of powder and a whole lotta amazing views. I would even say these runs had some of the most unreal ski views of the trip. We circled the run a few times before the snow turned to slosh from the 65-degree weather and headed back to Le Breviant to head back to base.

After skiing, we took the gondola up to the top of the mountain to enjoy the view and apres ski a little. We sat, enjoyed the view, chilled, drank, and vibed. We took some more pictures with the amazing view before heading back down to the base.

Post, post skiing we decided to head into town and grab some Aperol Spritz. We watched Golden Hour over the mountains and hung out for a while.

We then headed to dinner and back to the Airbnb to play some cards. We bought a deck of cards at the gift shop and then remembered that the cards were in French and instead of Jack, Queen, King it was Valet, Dame, Roi. Man, this made a very confusing game of hearts with the key phrase “Roy Drinks Vodka.”

After, the long day we headed to bed for day 2 of skiing.
